Trophy Trout Fishing In Canada's Arctic

If you're looking for trophy lake trout fishing, look no further than Tukto Lodge in Canada's Arctic. Mosquito Lake and Dubawnt Lake are known among anglers as the lake trout capital of the world. Our lake trout range from 10 to 50 pounds, and visitors to Tukto Lodge catch and release (remember we're going for trophies) an average of 40 fish per day. A 61-pound trophy is the largest lake trout taken to date.

The fishing supervisors of the Northwest Territories have designated both lakes as "trophy fishing only", so our catch and release program ensure that the trophy trout will be there, waiting for you to catch them! It's an angler's paradise.

Lake Trout Facts

Part of the char family, the lake trout is a cold-water species. It is the largest trout native to North America. The world record for lake trout was established in 1995 by an angler in the Northwest Territories, Canada, who caught a 72.25-pound monster.

Lake trout is one of the prized northern game fish and one of the best places to find lake trout is in the remote wilderness - cold northern lakes accessible only by fly-in plane, such as Mosquito Lake and Dubawnt Lake. A typical lake trout has a deeply forked tail, large head and eyes with grey-green to grey-blue back, whites spotted sides and a creamy belly.

Trophy Trout Testimonials

But don't just take our word for it, here's what our guests have said:

"Thanks for another great trip to Dubawnt & Mosquito Lakes. I finished up with nine trophy trout up to 25 lbs. at Dubawnt and 11 trophy trout up to 30 lbs. at Mosquito lake. The camps, food and staff were all great. See you next year and thanks again."

"How many fishing trips can boast four trout over 20 pounds in one day? Nunavut can - just read the log. Truthfully, before I saw these trophy trout with my own eyes, I suspected that perhaps the fishermen who logged those big numbers the week before exaggerated their catches…that is until I boated a 20, 21, 23 and 27 pound trout myself, all in the same day!"
