The Nunavut Fishing Adventure!
Fly-In Fishing Outposts in Canada's
Arctic
Dubawnt Lake is one of Canada's largest lakes, and the sixteenth largest
in all of North America. Fishing in Nunavut is known for the huge trophy
fish. There are only three fishing outposts and
camps on this huge lake, and they are all ours! Once known only to the native Inuit of the area
and Nunavut bush pilots, Tukto Lodge opened Dubawnt Lake for business
in 1994 and it is now recognized by anglers around the globe as the Trout
Fishing Capital of the World.
No matter which Nunavut fishing outpost you chose, you'll be catching
an average of 40 plus trout a day, many in the 30 to 40 pound range.
There is an absolute minimum fishing pressure as only 50 anglers fish
this massive 350,000-acre lake every year, and the outpost camps are
only open for 6 weeks during the summer months, when the ice is out.
You can discover Nunavut's miles and miles of shoreline, numerous islands
and reefs, never before explored or fished for trophy lake trout! And,
while you are here, in addition to the amazing wildlife such as herds
of caribou and peregrine nesting areas on the nearby rocks, the muskox
herd on Dubawnt and Mosquito Lake numbers approximately 200 of these
majestic shaggy beasts - so bring your camera!
New Alumarine boats powered by 25 or 40-HP Honda four-stroke outboards
with all the gas you need, are standard equipment at all of our camps.
Remember, all hooks are to be single barbless. Dubawnt Lake has been
designated "trophy fishing only", so this is a catch and release
lake.
