Canada's Northwest Territories - A Fishing Paradise

Touch down on the cold crystal waters of Mosquito Lake in Canada's Northwest Territories. This fly-in lake, which is approximately 25 miles long by 20 miles wide, is a world-class fishing destination with numerous trophies caught every day. The ice is out on Mosquito Lake by the second week of July. You'll be able to fish for trout in shallow waters, 10 to 20 feet deep, all summer.

Once only known to the native Inuit and a handful of bush pilots covering the Northwest Territories looking for the best trout and grayling fishing, we continue to ensure an extremely low fishing pressure by permitting no more than approximately 100 people per year to fly in to Tukto Lodge on Mosquito Lake and Dubawnt Lake.

Fly In Fishing to Mosquito Lake, Northwest Territories

Tukto Lodge is the only fishing camp on the Mosquito Lake in Canada's Northwest Territories, and features a new main lodge facility with deluxe accommodations. Our outpost camp is small, to offer personalized service. We can accommodate up to 18 people in comfort in our three guest cabins.

Mosquito Lake's full-service lodge offers all the amenities of home - heated guest cabins with fresh linens, hot showers and flush toilets, freezers, fridges and generators. Our guides will show you the best fishing, our camp cook will make you three delicious meals a day and you can relax in our main dining hall that looks out to a spectacular lake view.

There is also a cash bar as well as a kiosk where you can purchase fishing lures, leaders and line if you need to. Remember, all hooks are to be single barbless. Mosquito Lake has been designated "trophy fishing only", so this is a catch and release lake.

Guests can use our 16 and 18-foot Alumarine boats with 25 HP Honda motors. We also have Zodiacs with 15 hp motors for a thrilling 3 to 4 day, 100-mile trip float, fishing, and camping trip from Mosquito Lake, Northwest Territories, to Dubawnt Lake, Nunavut, on the Dubawnt River chain.

Mosquito Lake - A Northwest Territories Fly Fishing Vacation

You can fly fish along the rapids with waders or just fly fish out of the boat as your guide anchors the boat on top or below the rapid. Average catch of grayling with a fly rod is 20 to 30 grayling between 2 to 5 lbs in one half-day of fishing. Grayling and lake trout fishing can be found in the rivers all through July and August.
